For one week, over thirty-five achievers and eleven advisors from Junior Achievement New Providence toured the United States visiting college campuses, historic sites and financial facilities.

These eager achievers comprising mostly of junior level high school students visited Towson University, Morgan State University, Howard University and The Art Institute of Washington. While touring, the achievers paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Paulette Zonicle, Bahamas Consul General to Washington, D.C.

The annual College Bound trip is specifically designed to afford achievers an opportunity to tour schools, grant exposure to the diverse colleges and programs offered and an opportunity to assess the schools that may be best suited for their career goals and academic plans.

Eleventh grade student of Kingsway Academy, Italia Clarke, President of JA Company BTC Flight 242, Vice President of Achievers Association said, "This trip has been amazing. It was truly life changing. The College Bound tour opened my eyes to the many opportunities that exist that I don't think I would have appreciated as much just looking at college brochures and websites."

While touring Morgan State University, seven achievers gained on the spot acceptance and four achievers received scholarships. Of the four scholarships; one achiever received a full scholarship including an annual stipend for $1,000 for books; two achievers received full scholarships including an annual stipend for $500 for books and one achiever received partial scholarship. The recipients will be announced at the Junior Achievement Awards Show May 16th 2015.

The trip is not only about exposure to universities but also touring sites such as The Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, Arlington Cemetery and Andrew Rankin Memorial Chapel. It's also about achievers having a fun-filled trip with some shopping and interactive activities. One of the highlights of the trip was the achievers seeing the popular play Wicked at the Hippodrome Theatre.
