Last month, Bahamian professional basketball player Magnum Rolle decided to continue his professional career with the Indios de Mayagüez of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) league in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.

Since the March 5 signing, the 6-foot-11 center has played in 15 games with 11 starts. He is currently averaging 9.47 points per game to go along with 4.93 rebounds and a team-high 1.27 blocks, in his team’s slow 7-10 start to the season. Rolle has put up a season high of 14 points on two occasions, the first in an 84-75 loss to Leones de Ponce on April 4, and the other on Friday, in an 89-77 loss to Brujos de Guayama.

In Friday’s game, Rolle shot 5-for-12 from the field and pulled down six rebounds. On April 4, he went 6-for-15 from the field in 19 minutes of action. He also had four rebounds.

The Indians will be in action again on Thursday, when they take on Caciques de Humacao. Last year, Rolle signed with both Cangrejeros de Santurce and Bnei Herzelia, but was released from both rosters.

Indios de Mayagüez guard Tyshawn Taylor is one of the more recognizable players on the roster. He played college basketball for the University of Kansas Jayhawks before the Portland Trailblazers selected him with the 41st pick in the 2012 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft.

Rolle made the move to Puerto Rico following a short stay in Israel with Bnei Herzelia of the Israeli Basketball Premier League and a productive two-year stint in Japan with the Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins of the Japanese National Basketball League.

A former All-Star in Japan, Rolle also played briefly with the LG Sakers in South Korea during the 2011 NBA lockout and also played with Santurce of the Puerto Rican league.

Since graduating from Louisiana Tech in 2010, Rolle was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder and spent time with the Indiana Pacers, Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic in the NBA. He also spent a season with the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Developmental League.

Rolle was an integral member of The Bahamas’ gold medal winning team at last year’s Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships. For the tournament, he averaged 13.8 points, seven rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game.
