Wikileaks Cable: PLP, FNM not serious about Turks Caicos union

The United States Embassy in The Bahamas expressed the view in 2009 that The Bahamas was not seriously interested in forming a federation with the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), according to a secret cable released by Wikileaks.
The cable was dated September 3, 2009, classified by Charge d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Nassau Timothy Zuniga-Brown. It was published by the British newspaper The Guardian yesterday.
In late August 2009, during a visit to The Bahamas, former TCI Premier Michael Misick suggested the federation. Misick had recently resigned as premier in the face of allegations of corruption.
