More than 100 businesses students at The College of The Bahamas listened intently on Tuesday evening as Harold Antor, President of Tristar Insurance Brokers & Agents presented them with what he described as the “opportunity of a lifetime” during COB’s Career Opportunities session, a part of the college’s Business Week activities.

Antor, an insurance sales veteran turned entrepreneur with more than 20 years in the industry gave the students a challenge rarely heard in the professional environment, “If you do exactly as I say, you can make $100K annually in just three years.”

Tristar introduced its 5-Step Broker Development Program in 2014. It is a unique training and mentorship program designed to give talented professionals who may or may not have experience in the life insurance business an opportunity to learn, grow and eventually become successful independent brokers themselves.

Jamal Levarity, a Junior pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Accounting signed up for the program immediately following Antor’s presentation. “I have a background in sales, it’s what I love to do and hearing about the potential this career provides to make so much money doing what I love to do was too good to pass up.”

Under the Business Week theme “Embracing Innovation & Technology in a Changing Business Environment, Antor encouraged the students to be innovators, citing Tristar’s commitment to provide innovative solutions for its clients through many avenues, including the development of a proprietary primary health care plan called FirstCare Medical Plan.

“The collaboration between Tristar and the School of Business was a beneficial one as it allowed our students to garner first hand information from professionals in the industry,” stated Glenville Davis, Lecturer and Business Week Coordinator at The College of The Bahamas. “The session provided valuable information that will help to empower students to make an informed decision with their career options in the financial services industry.”

After building Tristar Insurance Agents & Brokers over the last ten years with two of his colleagues, Antor and his executive team are now focused on developing the future leaders of the life insurance industry in The Bahamas.

“Industry stats show that the average age of life insurance professionals is creeping up. We are looking for fresh blood to train to take over the industry and provide the tremendously valuable service that our industry offers. The College of The Bahamas is the best place for bright minds,” stated Antor.

Through the Broker Development Program, Tristar intends to train the next cadre of insurance sales executives and entrepreneurs.
