Police said a man was shot and killed and another was injured while sitting in a yard on West Avenue, off Carmichael Road, last night.

The culprits pulled up in a white vehicle around 8:40 p.m. and one exited and shot the men, police reported.

One of the men died on the scene. The other was shot in the leg and transported to Princess Margaret Hospital. Police said they engaged in a high-speed chase with the suspects. The chase ended on Tonique Williams-Darling Highway where the suspects abandoned the vehicle.

Police said they had one man in custody and they recovered a firearm. The murder count for 2015 stands at 31.
