Cable Bahamas' innovative marketing strategies were recently recognised by an international panel of industry professionals, who selected the company as a multiple winner in the 2014 Telly Awards. The annual award honours excellence in film and video production, commercials and television programming.

Cable Bahamas received two Silver Telly awards for its short film of The Bahamas National Anthem (filmed as a tribute to the country's 40th anniversary of independence) "March On, Bahamaland" and "Get Your REVOICE", a Junkanoo-themed production promoting the REVOICE Merry Mortgage Campaign. The Silver Telly is the top honour given by the Telly Awards Committee.

Additionally, five of the company's productions received Bronze Tellys for its REV TV ads, "Bahamaland", promoting the REVOICE national long distance calling plan; "Pledge to Excel", highlighting the company's commitment to customer service; "Naughty Johnny", which focused on the speed and reliability of REVON broadband Internet; "Carol of the Phones" the Christmas-themed ad for REVOICE; and, "Old Uncle's Christmas Wish", the widely acclaimed REVOICE Christmas ad.

"The Telly Awards has a mission to honour the very best in film and video," Telly Awards Executive Director Linda Day said. "Cable Bahamas' accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production."

Cable Bahamas Vice President of Marketing David Burrows said the company is proud to be recognised for productions that are uniquely Bahamian. He noted that the award-winning pieces were produced by Bahamian advertising agency Keen i Media and featured a variety of Bahamian talent, including popular radio personality Darold Miller, Bahamian music producers/musicians Gregg White, Kendal Stubbs, Fred Ferguson and Lee Callender, a host of other talented Bahamian actors, singers dancers and musical groups, including Swingers Junkanoo group of Grand Bahama, The Highgrove Singers led by Adrian Archer, Tony Lowe, Angelique Sabrina, Autumn-Joy Dames and many other talented Bahamians.

"It speaks to the degree of talent we have here in The Bahamas that we were able to submit our productions to an international panel of 500 industry professionals and have seven of them awarded as the best work in television advertising and online video production. That is a remarkable achievement," Mr Burrows said. "We are thrilled to share this accomplishment with our Bahamian advertising agency, Keen i Media, the performers, music produces, dancers, choreographers and the Bahamian public."

Cable Bahamas has a long history of supporting Bahamian arts and culture and has promoted such creative expression in previous advertising campaigns. For this reason, Mr Burrows said, the international distinctionis one that all Bahamians can be proud of.

Last year's winners also include Coca-Cola, Disney, Discovery, ESPN, NBC, Showtime Networks and Warner Brothers. Mr Burrows said that Cable Bahamas' inclusion on this list is both significant and unprecedented, as it marks the first time since the award's inception that a Bahamian production was entered or honoured.

Mr Burrows stated that Cable Bahamas' success at the 35th Annual Telly Awards demonstrates its commitment to excellence in every aspect of business.

"At Cable Bahamas, we are not only revolutionising communications in The Bahamas, but we are elevating the production quality of marketing in the country through marketing methods that are new, exciting and effective," Mr Burrows said. "We have enjoyed tremendous success with our products as a result of our marketing campaigns. With REVOICE, for example, we have successfully captured nearly 30 per cent of the landline phone market in just three years; that's unheard of in the industry, and our marketing played a huge role in making that happen."

In addition to its Telly Awards success, Cable Bahamas, and its ad agency, Keen i Media, were recognised for creativity in devising smart campaigns at Cablefax's 2014 CableFAXIES Awards held in New York City. Its "Mega Massive Oh My Goodness Merry Mortgage Giveaway" campaign ranked in the top four for best marketing campaign operator along with Ogilvy & Mather, an international advertising, marketing and public relations agency with a staff of approximately 18,000 employees in 120 countries.

Cable Bahamas was previously recognised by the CableFAXIES in 2007 for its "How Fast Do You Like It" Internet campaign, which celebrated the music and dance of Bahamians including the legendary Joseph Spence and George Symonette.
