ZAMAR Fuels New Opportunities For Country with Certification

The Bahamas as a destination for Business and Events has just gotten a boost with Zamar Audiovisual & Productions becoming one of the first in the country to have designated Certified Technology Specialists (CTS) on record by the internationally renowned InfoComm International.

Two Bahamian employees from the audiovisual and production services arm of The Zamar Group of Companies recently made history as the country’s first citizens on record to become CTS, fortifying their ability to skillfully and competently execute meetings and events through the use of audiovisual technology.

“Having members on our team with this and other industry designations is important to us because we have an international clientele,” said Kay Gardiner, Senior Vice-President of Development at Zamar Group of Companies. “By having persons on our team who are well versed in the industries standards, we are confident that our employees are able to understand the needs of our clients, source what they’re looking for and are able to communicate properly while representing our company and national talent in a professional manner.”

As the country looks to expand the Tourism industry and service offerings in The Bahamas, Mrs. Gardiner believes Bahamian companies need to keep updated in their respective fields.

Staying current with industry changes was one of the driving forces behind the company encouraging its employees Alejandro Johnson and Felton Capron to pursue becoming a CTS through InfoComm International, the trade association representing the professional audiovisual and information communications industries worldwide. It is a certification that took the duo almost two years in total to complete, with six months of studies in the Essentials of AV studies in the beginning and ending with a proctored exam around 18 months later.

“It was not easy taking on a full schedule of studying and full time job that is demanding in nature,” said Capron. “But we have good support here at Zamar so we were able to complete our certification on time.”

Johnson said the hard work was worth it as the recognition worldwide gave him a personal sense of accomplishment. “We are Bahamians operating in a global world and we have to be able to compete on that level,” he added. “We work with people from all over the world who expect things to be done at a certain level and we have to be prepared to deliver skills at that level.”
