A man was yesterday charged with the murder of his 81-year-old mother.
Jerome Butler, 56, appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt. Butler is accused of the death of Princess Butler, 81, who was found dead inside her home on Petersfield Road shortly after 8 a.m. on February 4. Police said she was found with injuries. An autopsy found she died of asphyxia.
Butler was not required to enter a plea and was remanded to Her Majesty's Prisons. He will return to court on April 14, where the matter will proceed by way of a voluntary bill of indictment. Attorney Ian Cargill represented Butler.
