With the funding and support of its sponsor, Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC), Governor’s Harbour Primary School has taken first place in the Eleuthera Junior Junkanoo Primary School Division. The colorful bunch, who swept lead banner and choreography and came second in music, dazzled spectators on the Queen’s Highway with the theme “Treasures of the Sea.”

“We are elated for the children about their win!” said Mrs. Ferguson-Mackey. “We know that the students, their parents, and teachers put in a great amount of work to make the occasion truly spectacular. The students at Governor’s Harbour Primary are very special to BTC, especially to our staff in Eleuthera, so we want to send them big congratulations for a job well done!”

She added that BTC’s relationship with the school goes far beyond sponsorship of the Junior Junkanoo, with Governor’s Harbour Primary being one of the schools selected for the company’s Adopt-a-School program.

“BTC and its staff have been actively involved with the school for nearly a year now, having ‘adopted’ the school in March 2014. Since the relationship began, BTC has not only assisted with sponsorships like Junior Junkanoo. The iVolunteers, a group of BTC staff committed to community service, have lent their hands to a number of projects around the school, including repairing the kindergarten’s restrooms and restoring the school’s playground by purchasing and installing brand new equipment.”

Students from BTC’s ‘adopted’ school Governor’s Harbour Primary, prepare to perform in the Junior Junkanoo Parade. The students won best overall performance in the primary school division.
