CIBC FirstCaribbean has been a Junior Achievement (JA) company mentor, sponsoring a high school team, for over a decade. However, this year, when the bank found itself unable to participate in its usual way, CIBC FirstCaribbean decided to honour the longstanding relationship with a donation towards JA’s annual scholarships.

“We have seen many sponsors pull back due to the recession, so CIBC’s commitment means a lot to us, they have been with us for years and we have come to rely on them.” said Tammy Lecky representing Junior Achievement.

”The funds from CIBC FirstCaribbean will provide partial scholarships for three achievers. The students work hard throughout the year and we are happy to team with CIBC to reward three of them.”

The donation comes during a philanthropic push by the bank, inspired by the recent holiday giving season. Youth and Education are a major component of CIBC First Caribbean’s four-pronged social impact policy which also promotes health & wellness, staff volunteerism, and community & environmental causes.
