Roberts says Rollins matter will be addressed

Prime Minister Perry Christie will convene a meeting of the Leadership Council of the Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) this month to make a determination on disciplinary action for Fort Charlotte MP Dr. Andre Rollins, according to PLP Chairman Bradley Roberts.
Roberts was responding to questions about National Review's revelation that the Disciplinary Committee of the PLP recommended Rollins be suspended from the party for "no less than six months".
National Review quoted a party source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
When asked about the suspension, Roberts said he has not seen a report with any such recommendation.
He suggested that National Review has more information than he does.
"The Leadership Council, we have not met," Roberts said.
"The prime minister, who heads that, sir, will call that committee - the Leadership Committee - sometime this month when he returns from China.
"The report will be made at that time and a determination made with regard to Dr. Rollins."
Rollins appeared before the Disciplinary Committee three times.
In the House of Assembly last August, the outspoken MP said the country needs new leadership.
He also said he is tired of hearing Christie quote scripture.
Not long after, Rollins was fired as chairman of the Gaming Board.
Despite being asked by the National General Council to apologize to Christie in the House, he refused.
Roberts said he believes there has been far too much media attention on the matter.
He suggested the media has an agenda, but did not explain the comment.
"You see anybody [expressing] any concerns about it; only you, the members of the press," he said.
"I do not hear a single person from Fort Charlotte asking about it.
"I repeat, sir, I do not hear a single person from Fort Charlotte asking about it."
In October, more than 30 constituents, who represent what Roberts called the "nucleus and backbone" of the Fort Charlotte branch, met over Rollins.
Several members expressed their displeasure with his performance in the House of Assembly and in his constituency.
Asked whether those members have changed their tone, Roberts said, "They accepted that when the council meets that they [will] have a decision on the matter".
Several PLP MPs and Senator Keith Bell have publically expressed concerns over Rollins' verbal attack on Christie.
South Beach MP Cleola Hamilton inferred Rollins was a "turncoat" in the House.
Rollins could not be reached for comment.
