Three men were murdered in separate incidents during the Christmas holiday, resulting in the murder count for 2014 rising above the 119 recorded last year.
In the latest incident, police said a man, who was on bail for alleged firearm possession, was shot on Spence Street, Mason's Addition, around 7 a.m. yesterday.
Police said the man, 42, a resident of Mason's Addition, was sitting on a bench in front of his home.
Two men approached him, one of whom shot him several times.
Chief Superintendent Paul Rolle, head of the Central Detective Unit, said the man ran to a neighbor's house seeking help.
He was transported to hospital, but pronounced dead on arrival, according to police.
Rolle said the man was released from Her Majesty's Prisons (HMP) earlier this month.
He confirmed the victim was shot in Mason's Addition earlier this year.
The man who was charged in relation to that shooting was also murdered, according to Rolle.

Rolle did not reveal the victim's identity.
He said an official identification will be made today.
No one was in police custody in relation to that matter.
On Saturday, a man was shot dead on Carl Road, off Claridge Road, around 1:30 a.m., police said.
He was shot several times while he walking, police said.
Details on the shooting were limited.
Police did not have a motive for the killing.
A third man was shot dead on Christmas Eve on Dorsette Alley, off Hospital Lane, police said.
According to reports, two men were standing on Dorsette Alley around 2 p.m. when a man on a motorbike drove alongside them and began shooting.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was shot several times.
He was pronounced dead on scene.
The man accompanying him shot the suspect during the incident, police said.
The suspect was transported to hospital and listed in serious condition.
The murder count for 2014 stands at 121.
The record murder count of 127 was recorded in 2011.
Saturday also marked one year since the mass shooting in Fox Hill that killed four people and left seven others injured.
Shaquille Demeritte, Claudezino Davis, Shenique Sands and Eric Morrison were shot dead at Freedom Park in Fox Hill when the occupants of a gray car opened fire on the crowd.
Rolle appealed for anyone with information on these incidents to come forward.
