With limited time before the big parades, Scotiabank (Bahamas) Ltd. assisted junkanooo groups in the A, B and C categories again this year. The bank presented seventeen New Providence groups with customary annual donations.

“Scotiabank is committed to supporting arts and cultural programs that inspire, entertain and enrich audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Junkanoo showcases vibrant performances with an array of art that brings people together from every background,” said Leah R. Davis, Senior Manager for Marketing and Public Relations at Scotiabank. “We have made annual donations to major Junkanoo groups for about fifteen years and are proud to assist with the development of culture in The Bahamas”.

Chairman of the Saxons Superstars, Toby Austin, thanked Scotiabank for their kind donation to the group over the years. “It is good when the Corporate and Cultural worlds collide and foster positive partnerships to better the best little country in the world,” said Austin.

The Bank’s Manager for Sponsorships and Philanthropy presented cheques to representatives from the Valley Boys, One Family, Saxons, Roots, Prodigal Sons, Conquerors for Christ, Red Land Soldiers, Culture, Fancy Dancers, Colors, Z-Bandits, Spirit, Music Makers, Body of Christ Crusaders, Sting, Foundation, and Chipping-Knights to assist with preparations for the Boxing and New Year’s Day parades.

Scotiabank also assisted with groups and parades in Eleuthera, Abaco and Grand Bahama.
