Urban Renewal 2.0 hosted a Family Fun Day for the elderly in West End on Saturday with food, music and fun. Special guests for the event were Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie; Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe, MP for West Grand Bahama and Bimini; and Minister for Grand Bahama, the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville.

Displays of crafts made by the elderly from all nine Urban Renewal Centers were set up for those in attendance to view. There was also a brief cultural programme in which children from Tabernacle Baptist, Heavenly View Ministry, West End Primary, and the Tabernacle Choir were featured. There were cultural dances, songs and the plaiting of the maypole all to the delight of those present.

Prime Minister Christie said the elderly have given much to the growth and development of the country, and it is important to remember this. He also thanked the Deputy Director of Urban Renewal 2.0 in Grand Bahama, Michelle Reckley, for her tireless efforts to assist those in need.

There was food for all, and the elderly received gift boxes.
