CIBC First Caribbean in Cancer Awareness & Fundraiser

Tue, Sep 30th 2014, 04:24 PM

If you stepped into a CIBC FirstCaribbean branch recently you were probably greeted with oodles of pink and a smile.

In the bank’s lead-up to its 3rd Annual Walk for the Cure on Sunday October 5th from Goodman’s Bay Corporate Centre, employees adorned their branches with pink garlands and provided information on support groups and organisations.

The decorations also supported an in-house CIBC FirstCaribbean branch fundraising competition.

The friendly, although still competitive, fundraising branch decoration competition was judged by members of the Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group.

The judges evaluated the branch decoration on their creativity and design and on how informative and useful they found the collateral displays.

Head Judge Andrea Sweeting of Sister Sister was impressed by the dedication the branches exhibited.

“CIBC FirstCaribbean employees should be commended for their efforts to educate our community that early detection saves lives,” Ms. Sweeting said.

“I applaud the CIBC FirstCaribbean Team for demonstrating that the corporate world can truly support survivors.”

The Carmichael Road Branch took home first place with their theme “Hope for the Cure” which emphasized the message “You are Not Alone.”

Their tasteful pink and purple display featured stories and photos of survivors and provided fliers and brochures from local organizations aimed at fighting cancer.

The decorations in the branches will be on display up until the Walk for the Cure on Sunday October 5th.

For information on how to register for the walk or to donate visit any of CIBC FirstCaribbean’s locations or email: duquesa.dean@cibcfcib.com.

And the winner is: The Carmichael Rd. Branch took home first place in the CIBC FirstCaribbean branch decoration competition for cancer awareness.

CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Carmichael Branch was commended by Head Judge Andrea Sweeting of Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group for their focus on survivor healing.
