Bill Mahers Hosts Back-To-Back Live Specials on HBO

Thu, Sep 4th 2014, 01:57 PM

It’s back-to-back Bill this month on HBO, when Emmy® nominated comedian/host/author Bill Maher returns from hiatus and resumes season 12 of his long-time show with a special edition of Real Time With Bill Maher at 21:00 hrs.*, immediately followed by his 10th solo stand-up comedy special for the network with Bill Maher: Live from D.C. at 22:00 hrs. Both specials will air live from Washington, D.C., on Friday, September 12 in the Caribbean, simultaneously with the United States.

In an unprecedented move, Maher descends upon Washington, D.C. for two live shows, presented back-to-back and without a break. This time, he takes his Emmy® nominated series Real Time with Bill Maher on the road, hosting a new edition to air live from Sidney Harman Hall, in which he will reveal the “winning loser” of his season-long “Flip a District” segment, which invites viewers to nominate their current elected representative to be voted out of office. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is the top-of-show interview guest, and comedian Jerry Seinfeld is the mid-show interview guest. The roundtable discussion features former Miss. Gov. Haley Barbour, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and journalist Andrea Mitchell.

Immediately following the conclusion of Real Time, Maher will proceed to the Warner Theatre, where another, entirely different audience will welcome him onstage for an all-new, one-hour stand-up comedy special, Bill Maher: Live from D.C., his tenth solo special for the network since his HBO debut in 1989. Among the topics that Maher plans to cover: the midterm elections, income inequality, the Republican psyche, a Trump lawsuit, why the Pope is an atheist, and why tattoos are stupid.

One of the most politically astute comedians in America today, Maher’s unflinching honesty and commitment to never pulling a punch have garnered him the respect and admiration of millions of fans, not only for his acclaimed weekly HBO series, but for the many stand-up specials the indefatigable comedian also performs around the country each year. Real Time with Bill Maher has been renewed for a 13th season of 35 editions, to begin in January 2015.

The executive producers of the show are Bill Maher, Scott Carter, Sheila Griffiths, Marc Gurvitz, Brad Grey and Billy Martin; produced by Dean E. Johnsen; directed by Paul G. Casey. The executive producers of the comedy special are Bill Maher and Marc Gurvitz; director is Troy Miller.
