CONCERT: Jah Cure, Richie Spice, MDeez and Chevaughn will be in concert on Saturday, August 16 at Luna Night Club. Tickets are $35 general, $60 VIP and $100 platinum.

LIONFISH DERBY: A lionfish derby will be held Saturday, August 16 at Green Parrot on East Bay Street. Registration is $50 per boat. Weigh in is at 4 p.m. Categories to be contested included smallest fish, biggest fish and most fish. All proceeds go to Bahamas National Trust research. Lionfish samples will be available on the day. Demonstrations on lion fish cleaning and prepping will also take place.

GOSPEL THEATER: The Pond Productions presents Theater of The Gospel Jesus vs. Satan, a one-man show by Dorsey McPhee. The play takes place on Saturday, August 30 at the Dundas Center for the Performing Arts on Mackey Street at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Dundas Centre for the Performing Arts or St. Matthew's Anglican Church.

FANTASTIC FRIDAYS: Visage will rock the house at the popular last Friday in the month event known as Fantastic Fridays at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel. The happy hour social event kicks off at 5 p.m. with Visage taking to the stage at approximately 6:30 p.m. and playing through 10 p.m.

CHANGING OF THE GUARD: The changing of the guard, a display of Bahamian music and military exercise, takes place each month on the last Thursday and Saturday at 10 a.m. at Government House. The changing of the guard has been a tradition since 1958. The ceremony features the world-renowned Royal Bahamas Police Force Marching Band and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force guards.

JAZZ AT THE HILTON: Jazz group Vice Versa, featuring vocalist Naomi Taylor, performs every Tuesday and Thursday at British Colonial Hilton at 6:30 p.m.

Grand Bahama

SEA FEST: High Rock's Sea Fest homecoming festival celebrates the bounties of the sea. Party the night away with live band performances, a Junkanoo rush-out and indulge in culinary delights. The venue is the High Rock Primary School grounds, in East Grand Bahama.

SWIM RACE: BASRA Bernie Butler Swim Race takes place on August 16 at Coral Beach in Lucaya. The annual swim race and beach party raises funds for the Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association.

CULTURAL FEST: Great Harbour Cay's Cultural Fest takes place on Saturday, August 9. The event in its second year celebrates the island's diversity and culinary delights.

FESTIVAL: Forbes Hill Homecoming Festival takes place August 7-10 in Forbes Hill. The annual event includes a weekend of activities for people of all ages, with a souse-out on Thursday and a fair on Friday and Saturday. The weekend culminates with a church service and beach picnic on Sunday.
