The 58th Annual Cat Island Regatta promises to live up to its title as "The Greatest Show on Earth".
Regatta Committee President Pat Strachan regards this as the most important of all Cat Island's regattas. Islanders are working toward extensive renovations to the Sailing Club in Cat Island.
More that 16 boats are scheduled to be in Cat Island to participate in a great day of competitive sloop sailing. D Mac, Geno D, Veronica Bishop, Cupid Anderson Williams and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force pop band are all scheduled to entertain patrons as they eat the best Bahamian food and drink the "Beer of The Bahamas", Kalik.
"Kalik has been sponsoring the Cat Island Regatta for more than a decade and a half," said Maxwell Burrows, race committee chairman.
"It is one of the driving forces behind the success of the event and the beer itself is an important part of the event for all that visit."
Jannifer Thurston, Kalik's brand manager, said: "Kalik is always excited to support events such as the Cat Island Regatta which display the great skill, creativity, beauty and charm of The Bahamas and its people."
Black Point Regatta
Sloops from all over The Bahamas are expected to take to the beautiful waters of the Exumas today for the 51st Annual Black Point Regatta.
Organizers boast of the regatta making a jump to the next level and becoming the premiere cultural event, with a lineup including a Junkanoo rushout, culture dances, an annual beach party (free eats and drinks), cultural dances, exhibitions around the maypole and the acclaimed Ugly Man Contest.
"Kalik's sponsorship has helped the Black Point Regatta to take it to the next level," said event organizers.
Thurston, Kalik's brand manager, said: "The Kalik brand is inextricably tied to all things Bahamian, and as such we must play our role in assisting with the development of events such as the Black Point Regatta."
