The young sultry Bahamian Jazz Artist, Anuschka Wright, is now a music major at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. This Father’s Day on June 15th, she with notable names from the Bahamian Jazz Scene like Adrian D’Aguilar, Naomi Taylor and Ralph Munnings have come on board to raise funds and help her fund her dream.

Anuschka is grateful to all who are helping her in one way or the other and she has always felt that to whom much is given --- much more is expected. With this in mind, Jazz In Bloom is about giving, especially to the youth of our nation. This year a portion of the proceeds will go to two relatively new but impactful youth organizations namely The Accordion Project and the Bahamas Jazz Project.

The Accordion Project was started with the purpose of developing Bahamian Master Accordionists and to preserve our traditional Rake and Scrape heritage. The first phase of this program involes summer programs held in Cat Island.

The Program is also taught in French. The first camptook place in summer, 2013 and was a hugh success as the community in Cat Island embraced this unique initiative headed by Ms. Diana Hamilton who resently returned home after spending most of her adult life in France. She is now a lecture at the college of the Bahamas and a singer and recording artist with a focus on indigenous Bahamian music.

Then we have the Bahamas Jazz Project, another unique youth program founded by Mr. Adrian D’Aguilar, he is know in the Bahamas for his upright bass mastery and the dynamic band, Jazz Etc. Adrian is helping our youth develope character and life skills through music, Jazz in particular. Along with the music theory, the young people get to experience the jazz scene first hand since he provides opportunities for his proteges to perform for the general public which has been a great way for them to sharpen their skills.

The future is bright here in the Bahamas when it comes to music. You must know the important role music plays in life, music can set the the mood of an evening outing or it can ignite war and violence. Anuschka, Diana and Adrian are ensuring that the way our youth experience music is all positive and will positively influence their lives today and the Bahamas for years to come.

Therefore friend, we invite you to do your part. Give your support to Jazz In Bloom and it’s worthy charites. Be there to experience the second round of Jazz In Bloom --- this Father’s Day you will experience Jazz In Bloom… Ignited .
