Frank Rutherford visits Acklins Central High School

The country's first Olympic track and field medalist Frank Rutherford continues the Mega Malt High School Tour, in which he spends time giving motivational speeches to students throughout the archipelago of The Bahamas.
Rutherford also uses these tours through the Family Islands to discover raw talented Bahamian athletes. The Frank Rutherford Elite Athlete Development Foundation gives young Bahamians the opportunity to get college scholarships in basketball and football in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
The Bahamian track and field pioneering hero spent this past week in Acklins with his team of Yvonne Hanna-Rutherford Moncur (mother), Wendy Hanna-Darling-Hunter (aunt and mother of Dennis and Devard Darling), and Juliet Moss (sister), all of whom work with Rutherford in his foundation.
Rutherford's message last week was simple: "Don't allow the shores of Acklins or The Bahamas to limit you in becoming the best in the world at whatever you dream of becoming."
The young men were directed by Rutherford, in particular, to become real men, be accountable, responsible, the heads of their households and true providers for their families. Rutherford discovered a few young men at the Acklins High School in which he will reach out to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, to see how those young men could be assisted in pursuing athletic careers abroad.
Mega Malt and the Frank Rutherford Foundation will adopt the Acklins Central High School, assisting with fundraisers for the school's general needs, but with a focus of athletic development in terms of equipment. The Frank Rutherford Foundation wishes to thank the Minister of Agriculture, Marine Resources and Local Government V. Alfred Grey, Bahamasair, Mabel Hanna, Henry Rolle, Acklins Central High School Principal Veronica Bain and everyone who made the trip to Acklins a success.
