Jazz in Bloom, round two

On Father's Day, it's time for Jazz in Bloom (JIB) round two.
The first installment of Jazz vocalist Anuschka Wright's event was kind of cool and chill. This year she intends to bring the energy up as she hosts her second concert under the theme "Jazz in Bloom...Ignited".
JIB turns up the heat with a line-up featuring all female vocalists. Joining Wright will be Angel Reckley, who is vibrant and expressive in her delivery and is certain to light up the stage with her performance, and Naomi Taylor, who will bring her smooth, sultry vocal styling to the concert stage with depth.
Backing up the females in the band will be Adrian D'Aguilar on upright bass, Tina Raymond, a jazz drummer who is back for a second year and newcomer to the band, pianist, Dennis Hamm. Ralph Munnings will thrill on the saxophone.
"I wanted to bring a different energy this year," said Wright, 24, of the concert from which proceeds go towards funding her music studies at Concordia University and exposure to the Jazz culture of Montreal. She said patrons should prepare for an exhilarating night of music.
With a year of university under her belt, she said they should be prepared to hear how much her vocal range has improved.
"I had a great vocal coach that I worked with, and just being around the music a lot more, hanging out at Jazz sessions, and listening to a lot of different musicians, I feel I've grown in all sense of the word," she said. So-much-so that Wright will be doing some scatting during the upcoming concert.
"I plan to show off a bit more of my abilities. I learned so much and I really feel that hopefully, people that come back will see a difference," she said.
JIB will be held on June 15, on Father's Day for the second consecutive year. The date was not intentional. During the planning stage, everything just seemed to come together for that date, according to Wright, so she felt it fit in perfectly in an effort to honor fathers.
"The Jazz in Bloom team and I felt that father's really didn't get as much recognition as mothers. We say it every year as a kind of joke, but there are just as many good fathers out there as there are mothers and I've always been a daddy's girl [her father is Gary Wright], and I just wanted to have a nice event where people can bring their fathers."
Wright said she's excited about the upcoming concert and was happy that people pushed her to do it again.
The show at the British Colonial Hilton hotel starts at 7 p.m. with a cocktail hour, and the show itself will be approximately an hour and a half with a short intermission.
"It's going to be a nice, short, sweet and to-the-point concert," she said.
Tickets are $60 general admission, $75 reserved seating and $150 VIP inclusive of table seating, as opposed to theater-style seating for other tickets and valet included, as well as wine and cheese at the table. Funds raised go towards Wright's educational pursuits.
Tickets can be purchased online at QuicTick.com, or at the box office locations, Custom Computers, Fine Threads and at CBS Bahamas.
