Winners of the first annual youth photography competition jointly held by the Grand Bahama Labyrinth and Garden of the Groves were announced Friday. Medals were awarded to two of the first prize winners present and other outstanding entrants were recognised during the ceremony held with friends and family on the grounds of the Grand Bahama Labyrinth in Lucaya.

Nearly 150 local residents came out in support of the not-for-profit organisation which provides search, rescue and recovery for those at sea.
Twenty-three schools throughout The Bahamas will be competing in the IBS Build-A-Bridge Challenge on April 23rd at the Holy Trinity Church Activity Center. The Challenge is a science competition in which 10th and 11th grade students build a lightweight, load bearing bridge using only Popsicle sticks and all purpose glue.

Infants born at the Princess Margaret Hospital recently were the recipients of safety car seats donated jointly by the Rotary Club of East Nassau and Multi Discount Furniture Company. The donation was part of a Christmas card promotion that the Rotary Club began in December, the proceeds of which were used to purchase car seats with the beneficiary being the Pediatric Wards at the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Hundreds of masked people, adorned in colorful beads, gathered at Xanadu Beach Hotel Friday night, January 30th, for the annual Children’s Home fundraiser. Giving the keynote address at the National Pride Day celebrations in Rawson Square yesterday, Turnquest said that as the country gets ready to celebrate its birthday this year, Bahamians ought not forget how far they have come and just how much the country has accomplished in a little over three decades.
