Open bid process held for Freeport's 'Downtown Turnaround' landscape and irrigation phase (Aug 31) A first occurred in GBPA history as The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited, hosted an ‘Open Bid Process’ meeting for the construction of the new Grand Bahama Arts and Craft Centre, in July of this year. As a part of GBPA’s modus operandi, a second ‘Open Bid Process’ meeting was held. This time it was for Downtown Turnaround’s Landscape and Irrigation phase one of the revitalization campaign.

Ban on harvesting marine turtles in The Bahamas (Aug 31) The Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources hereby announces that the Fisheries Regulations governing marine turtles have been amended to give full protection to all marine turtles found in Bahamian waters by prohibiting the harvesting, possession, purchase and sale of turtles, their parts and eggs. The new regulations also prohibits the molestation of marine turtle nests.

Emerald Bay Resort Sold To Sandals (Aug 21) Nearly three months after the Emerald Bay Resort in Exuma closed its doors, Sandals has finalized its purchase of the property, it was announced yesterday.

The joint receivers of EBR Holding Limited reported that a contract for sale was exchanged four weeks ago. A statement said Sandals worked diligently to secure the necessary government approvals which have cleared the way for the completion of its purchase of the resort.
