Position Description:
The Cape Eleuthera Institute (CEI) is a facility that promotes a connection between people and the environment. Our holistic approach to island ecosystems, philosophy of collaboration and relationship building, and intrinsic bond between primary research and education helps to create models of effective resource management and sustainable development. Regardless of your age, the Cape Eleuthera Institute is a place to learn, to teach, and to experience.
The primary duties of the intern include, but are not limited to, hardware and software support for individuals throughout the three campuses, systems administration, and network administration. Working directly with the IT Manager, the intern will also focus on one major project which befits their experience and interests. There are several projects available from which the intern can choose: open-source firewall development and implementation, network registration system, .NET development (C#) in our custom Renewable Energy Data Acquisition System.
The position requires five and a half day work week, but interns should expect their schedule to be flexible as some work may outside normal hours of operation. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of sustainable living, live on a campus that is nearly entirely off the grid, interact with researchers and scientists in a variety of fields, and spend quality time in an unmatched tropical environment.
