Dear Killarney Resident,

An old tribal saying says, "I believe in the spirit of sharing and I believe we are what we are because of those around us. I am what I am because of other people and they are what they are because of me. One hand cannot clap on its own but it needs the other hand to make a clap. Many hands make light work."
As The Member of Parliament for Killarney, I remain dediated to building Killarney and keeping it a model constituency in The Bahamas! As leader of the Free National Movement, my goal is to see that all areas are set up and organized to follow suit.

Gala Performance of The Dance Theatre of Harlem
Friday, June 22, 2012 | 7:30pm
Atlantis Theatre, Paradise Island
The Nassau Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, in partnership with its major sponsors, Atlantis and The U.S. Embassy, will present the Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) to The Bahamas from June 18-24, 2012. The highlight of the group’s visit will be a Gala Performance on Friday, June 22nd and a matinee performance on Saturday, June 23rd, at the Atlantis Theatre, Paradise Island. The world renowned dance troupe is led by Keith Alan Saunders, Ensemble Director and Virginia Johnson, Artistic Director.
According to Mrs. Diane Pindling, President of the Nassau Chapter of The Links, the purpose of DTH’s visit is to expose the Bahamian dance community to the social and artistic legacy of DTH through performances and educational experiences.
“We are very pleased that Bahamians, especially our young people, will have the opportunity to interact with a group of this magnitude, and to benefit from the greatness that DTH has cultivated over the past 43 years. With the assistance of the Ministries of Education and Youth, Sports & Culture and the U.S. Embassy, we have extended invitations to all of our primary and high schools throughout The Bahamas, private and community dance groups, and churches with dance programmes”, said Pindling.
The workshops and master classes will be held June 19 through the 21st, at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs Gymnasium with the Black-tie Gala performance scheduled for the evening of Friday, June 22 at 7:30 p.m. VIP tickets are priced at $200 and will include the After Reception with the Dance Troupe. The Dance Theatre of Harlem will also offer a Saturday afternoon matinee on June 24 at 3:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $40 and student/children tickets are $20.
The Dance Theatre of Harlem is a groundbreaking African-American ballet company founded 35 years ago by Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook. The Dance Theatre of Harlem School offers training to more than 1,000 young people annually with a community program open to any child who wants to study dance. One of the core missions of the ballet company is fostering the development of African-American and other racially diverse artists who perform a demanding repertory in front of audiences in the United States and around the world.
