Experience Bahamian life and culture through the art of some of The Bahamas' leading artists in The Artists of The Bahamas Exhibition and Symposium scheduled to open October 14, 2011 at The Waterloo Center of the Arts (WCA) in Waterloo, Iowa. Featured artists range from intuitive to trained, and their works range from easel paintings to mixed media installations and environments.

This exhibition is based on a film of the same title produced and directed by Karen Arthur and Thomas Neuwirth. The film highlights some of The Bahamas' most celebrated art makers: Amos Ferguson, Kendal Hanna, Max Taylor, Brent Malone, Dave Smith, Eddie Minnis, Stan Burnside, Jackson Burnside, Antonius Roberts, John Beadle and John Cox.

This project, initiated by the Waterloo Center for the Arts (WCA) in cooperation with the filmmakers and The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas, seeks to raise the profile of Bahamian art, bringing the work of Bahamian artists to new audiences. WCA is privileged to host this premiere exhibition of Bahamian art and is offering the exhibition for tour to other venues around the United States.
