GREEN REEL DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION:

BIFF announces a new edition of the ‘GREEN REEL’ Documentary Competition in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy, which sponsors ‘GREEN REEL’ to Explore the Environmental Issues Affecting the Bahamas. A call for submissions from emerging Bahamian filmmakers between the ages of 15 and 18.
Topic: The environment within the Bahamian community.
YOUTH FILM WORKSHOP
November 29 - December 4
Students will be introduced to the latest in digital technology and receive expert instruction from leading trainers. Working in all the different jobs on a film set (Actor, Director, Sound and Lighting, etc), children will learn the essentials of making a film from pre-production to editing- all in one day. Thus far, we have organized workshops in the past with four schools; St. Andrews, Queens College, Uriah McPhee Primary School and St. Bedes. For further information, please contact at 325-5747.
Academy Award nominee, Sophie Okonedo, was on hand for the Tribute presentation on Wednesday, December 16th at the Balmoral Club. The Rising Star Tribute is given to an actor whose early accomplishments have put them on the path for elite stardom in the industry. Okonedo was nominated for SAG, Critics Circle and NAACP Image Awards for her supporting role in HOTEL RWANDA and has recently starred in the feature films SKIN and THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES.
